Fading Suns Project

The Fading Suns Project came up somewhen around 2000. We were playing the roleplaying system of the same name then, and originally, these tracks were conceived to be background music to that campaign. As most of the time, they were almost never used for that ends, but the goal helped me to focus on simple, atmospheric structures, and I learned a lot about track efficiency during the course of work. Sadly, I didn’t have any real Sci-Fi-ish sounds at my disposal.

So while this project might not necessarily represent my most ingenious piece of work, it was the last thematic unity of music I actually finished; from then one, it was only fragments. Resurrected from an old tape recordings, and archived here for eternal convenience.

(All missing tracks will eventually be added)

01 – THE WRECKAGE

TBA

.

02 – AND THE STARS SHINE EVER SO BRIGHT

A simple arrangement of strings and bell-strings, slightly more optimistic in mood.

.

03 – THE DESERTED PALACE

TBA

.

04 – MOON WALTZ

Well yes, it’s a waltz.

.

05 – SOLITUDE

TBA

.

06 – KITEZH

An exception to the overall rule of simplicity of this project, this is actually one of my oldest efforts, dating back to the “Hagsgate” period, but it was never quite finished until this point, at which it actually became rather complex.

After the opening bars, which present you with the slightly Moldau-esque main theme, the piece turns into my humble adaption of Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh and the Maiden Fevroniya. It undergoes several other transformations until it finally reaches the last verses, which, finally, sound exactly like they should.

.

07 – ENTER THE PRINCESS

Probably my favorite piece of the album. What the title says.

.

08 – REPRISE

TBA
